| How To Setup Bearshare Firewall Settings |
Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall 1. Click the Start button on your taskbar and choose Control Panel. 2. Double click on Network Connections. If you don't see Network Connections: Click once on Network and Internet Connections, then click once on Network Connections. 3. Look for a connection that says both Enabled and Firewalled, with a little padlock icon in there. Usually this would be labeled Local Area Connection as shown . ![]() Right click that connection, and choose Properties from the menu that comes up. 4. Click the Advanced tab, then click the Settings button. ![]() 5. Click the Add button. ![]() 6. Enter the following information: * Description of service: BearShare * Name or IP address: localhost * External Port: 6346 * Internal Port: 6346 ![]() Make sure the TCP option is chosen. 7. Click the OK buttons to close all three dialog boxes, then close the Network Connections window by clicking the close button in the upper-right corner. Test your settings In BearShare, go to the Hosts view, right-click on the screen, and choose Redetect Firewall Status from the menu that appears.If you do not see the Hosts view, make it visible by going to View > Enable Views, and click Hosts in the list. Give BearShare a minute or so to check, then look at the 4th LED (on the right). If it is green, then you are good to go. If it is yellow, you are still firewalled. Double-check your settings and try again. |
