Skype's web control opens a door to attacks. This was dug up by a security researcher called Aviv Raff who revealed a vulnerable side of Skype which would allow malicious code intrusion giving certain conditions. This is possible because the program utilizes Internet Explorer to render internal and external HTML, but does so using "Local Zone" security settings. |

Secunia Alarms : over 95% of PCs contain one or more programs vulnerable to attack and this surprising statistics followed a study on computer vulnerability. ComputerWorld informs us that a vulnerability tracking company has reported that almost all Windows computers are probably using at least one unpatched application. According to the company four out of ten PCs have on them installed about 11 programs presenting high risk exposure. |

As recent researches have showed there seems to be an enlarged activity on ports directed to Windows Media Player and Winamp, a token that attackers are making efforts to screen machines for a new codec vulnerability.
The security firm Secunia, pointed out the weak features that make the players vulnerable – they are to be found in 3ivx Technologies' MPEG-4 codec, a necessary compatibility application used to create and play back MP4 files. |

Following McAfee’s latest statements, along with the release of Service Pack 1 for Microsoft's Windows and its expected success on the market, new trouble lies ahead due to malware writers.
The "alliance" between Windows XP and the upcoming Service Pack 3 does twice a greater job than the one between Vista and SP1, recent tests show. Devil Mountain Software revealed that a preview version of SP3 for Windows XP enhanced the performance with 10 percent. The same source regarded SP1 performance for Vista as insignificant. |
