The Warezov and Zhelatin worm families are among the victims in this latest struggle between viruses. Warezov.ms, which came second in the April Top Twenty, has fallen off the bottom of the table, and Warezov.ns, which came to take its place, wasn't able to rise higher than the very modest 19th place.

This test report is the second part of the February 2007 test run by AV-Comparatives. The same products were used and the results show the pure proactive detection capabilities that the products had three months ago. Interesting findings.

As an alternative to build its own antivirus engine, Webroot has wisely partnered with top-rated U.K.-based Sophos Anti-Virus, which sells primarily to the enterprise market. The review results are somehow mixed : 6.8 out of 10.

Microsoft has acknowledged that its Live OneCare security suite has been deleting users' ALL Outlook and Outlook Express e-mails by mistake.(by mistake..yeah sure.. )
According to postings on Microsoft's OneCare forum, thes emails have been deleted when the antivirus program finds a virus in an e-mail attachment.

During February, Kaspersky lab issued three virus alerts with a 'medium' threat rating. All these alerts were because of the rapid spread of new Zhelatin variants in mail traffic.

Obviously, these outbreaks have had an effect on the February Virus Top Twenty: out of the nine new malicious programs, six of them are Zhelatin variants. Storm worm and more.

AV-Comparatives has released the February 2007 top of 17 best antivirus software .
All products were updated on Firday, the 2nd February 2007 and were tested against a 497.608 malware database. 
The malware included : Windows viruses,Macro viruses,Script viruses/malware,Worms, Backdoors, Trojans, other malware, OtherOS viruses/malware. Interesting results.

Symantec has released its keenly awaited Norton 360 security suite in the US.The download is currently available for $10 less than the estimated retail price at $69.99.
With Norton 360, Symantec says it is trying to tackle the information excess of much of the customer security software available today.

Trend Micro has patched vulnerabilities in ServerProtect for Microsoft Windows, NetApp and EMC. It is not the first time when a big security vendor has to pacth it’s own products. The vulnerabilities were remotely exploitable and this is how the exploit could have been succesfuly launched.
