An accurate list of the most prolific fraudulent schemes in the previous year has been recently released. “Responsible” for it is The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois whose director the regional office in Rockford, Dennis Horton, declared that 2007 put nothing new on the table in what regards scams "but there has been some shifting in the ranking of the scams."

It could happen to anyone, but what makes the difference is the attitude. These kinds of thieves are intelligent people. The TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson knows that now, but only after his bank account had been hacked.

What about the attitude? First Clarkson declared in a newspaper that the data lost by staff at HM Revenue &Customs was futile and, in order to prove it, he published his own bank details.

Part of security software vendor CA's Web site was hacked last week and was redirecting visitors to a malicious Web site hosted in China.

Although the problem now appears to have been corrected, cached versions of some pages in the press section of CA.com show that earlier this week the site had been redirecting visitors to the uc8010.com domain, which has been serving malicious software since late December, according to Marcus Sachs, director of the SANS Internet Storm Center.

Basically, what the software does is engaging in automated enticing conversations with the purpose of gathering personal data from those who resort to the Internet in the hope of finding their sweetheart.
