Torrentfreak reports on a new P2P scam involving elusive DomPlayer software which steals your money trough hotline phone calls or infects you with malware.

It all starts when someone downloads a TV show (very often an aXXo fake) via BitTorrent. When the file is played, a message appears:

RIAA is making a blod step by suing usenet.com saying it compares to Napster, Kazaa, P2P sharing files networks.

"Defendant provides essentially the same functionality that P2P services such as Napster, Aimster, Grokster and Kazaa did (prior to being enjoined by the federal courts) -- knowingly providing the site and facilities for users to upload  and download copyrighted works -- except that defendant goes further than even the P2P services to facilitate and encourage copyright infringement by its users," said  the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Demonoid.com torrent website is back online after being shut down following a lawsuit threat from the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA). Apparently the threat was not enough to keep the green devil offline and on Oct 1 the site was back online even though not fully functional.

Demonoid.com, one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers has allegedly been taken offline by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA). Both the tracker and the website have been unresponsive for a few days now.

Demonoid Shut Down by the CRIAAs of now it is still unsure what exactly happened, but the popular Dutch news site nu.nl reports that the CRIA is responsible for the downtime.

The second largest file-sharing network on the internet has been severely disabled in a significant coup for the music industry's fight against piracy.  

Seven servers on the notorious 'eDonkey' network, on which millions of users illegally share music and other files, were this week shut down following orders by German courts, the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI) said.

Exploit code that targets Yahoo Messenger is out there on the Internet and this eaises the number of Yahoo Messenger Vulnerabilities &Exploits to 9 this year alone.

In a message to the milw0rm.com Web site, someone identified as "shinnai" disclosed malicious Visual Basic code that allegedly lets attackers feed any file to users of the latest version of Messenger. The exploit code successfully executes on a fully-patched PC running Windows XP SP2, shinnai said, although the effect depends on the security settings of Internet Explorer (IE)
