The GNU telephony project reports that GPL-licensed implementations of two key security protocols are available for use in Linux-based VoIP (voice-over-IP) devices and softphones. Additionally, a GPL-licensed softphone based on the new implementations is already available for download, testing, and use.

Singaporeans are more concerned about identity and credit card theft than terrorism and epidemics, according to a new study.
The Unisys Security Index, conducted in August this year by research company Synovate for Unisys, measures the level of concern held by Singaporeans to four areas: national, financial, Internet and personal security.

BRUSSELS -- Microsoft is working to hamstring software companies trying to overcome "inherent weaknesses" in Windows security, rival McAfee Inc. charged in a full-page ad in yesterday's Financial Times.
McAfee, Symantec, and other security software companies argue Microsoft's new Vista operating system will make it more difficult to protect customers because, for the first time, they have been denied access to the core of the operating system. |
