Windows Security

Softex Incorporated, the world’s leading supplier of innovative security software products and solutions for computing devices, and Atrua, a leading supplier of fingerprint solutions for mobile phones, have partnered to provide customers with secure access to their mobile phones. The companies have worked together to release the first implementation of Omnipass Mobile Edition for Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0.

This Omnipass ME release provides support for new features in Windows Mobile 6.0 as well as an enhanced password management user interface that allows users to quickly and securely access websites and applications, protect data, encrypt files, and perform various password management functions. "Softex is a recognized leader in providing security software products that use fingerprint biometrics on PCs. We are pleased to be able to now bring these proven capabilities to our rapidly expanding set of customers who have incorporated our fingerprint sensor into their mobile phones," said Carl Temme, Atrua’s vice president of Marketing.

According to The Kerton Group’s recently published research, Market Trends for Fingerprint Sensors in Mobile Handsets, Atrua’s fingerprint solution is now found in more mobile phone models than any other sensor, with over 80% of the design wins since the beginning of 2007. Atrua fingerprint sensors are also found in more Windows Mobile phone designs than any other fingerprint sensor vendor.

"Using OmniPass ME on Windows Mobile 6.0 with Atrua’s leading fingerprint reader is the perfect method of making certain the user’s identity is accurate before granting access to critical websites and applications on their mobile phones," said Vishal Jhaveri, vice president, Marketing, Softex Incorporated. "We are pleased to partner with Atrua, allowing us to offer security solutions to meet the expanding needs of the mobile industry."

Atrua’s Made-for-Mobile™ fingerprint solution is designed for compatibility with all major phone platforms and operating systems including Symbian, BREW, Linux, Windows Mobile, and others. Atrua’s TouchPhone™ software application platform makes it easy for applications to take advantage of the fingerprint touch control’s capabilities to enhance both the user-experience and the security of mobile devices. Users or developers of fingerprint phones can gain further information by contacting Atrua or Softex to schedule a meeting at the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment 2008.
