Web Security

IT security solutions provider GlobalSign announced on Monday it is including its SSL Secure Site Seal service for free with its range of SSL services.

GlobalSign SSL Secure Site Seals help websites educate their visitors on the security technology they employ to protect against phishing attacks and the compromise of personal information. Based on customer feedback, the company says it has made significant aesthetic enhancements to support multiple seal designs, sizes and formats.

When clicked, the site seal profile shows information on website security as well as how organizations can display details such as trading address and telephone number.

Websites display site seals to ensure visitors that they can be trusted, increasing user confidence that the website is authentic and that information transmitted between the user's browser and the site's server will be secure.

"With protection against fraud and phishing placed high in an enterprise's risk management strategy, the need to visibly show a Web visitor that the site is secure is growing at an unprecedented rate," says Johan Sys, CEO of GlobalSign.

"The enhancement GlobalSign has made to the SSL Secure Site Seal service is set to improve how websites can communicate their investments in security to website visitors, who in turn have the rare opportunity to better understand how SSL security helps them, and of course, it is all free."

GlobalSign says the SSL certificates are supported by all popular browsers, PDAs, video consoles and mobile phones, providing up to 256 bit strong encryption. Certificates are issued with the free Site Seal and warranties ranging from $130,000 to $300,000, says GlobalSign, www.globalsign.com .
