Security Incidents

Attacks on VoIP systems are expected to flow in 2008. VoIP phones and the IP PBXs have made themselves even more vulnerable by having their previous vulnerabilities published. As a consequence, one can easily find attack tools used to exploit these vulnerabilities on the Internet. In brief, the VoIP vulnerable area is quite large. This is Part 2 of the 10 High Impact Cyber Security Threats in 2008 series.

Part 1 : Web Site Attacks,Botnets, Targeted Phishing.

4 Mobile Phone Threats
The thing with mobile phones is that they are general purpose computers which easily leads us to presume that they will be more and more targeted by worms, viruses, and other malware. The "open handset alliance" that Google has recently spoken of marks a turning point moment for the mobile phones industry. If really open mobile platform get green light this would mean a whole lot of new open territory for hackers who will be provided with easy access by the developer toolkits.

5 Insider Attacks
Insider attacks are a major issue. They are conducted by unscrupulous employees, consultants and/or contractors of an organization. The danger comes from them being approved some degree of physical and logical access to systems, databases, and networks that they attack, allowing them a considerable advantage in attacks that they initiate.
Both insider-related risk and outsider risk, however, have reached an unparalleled level owing to security perimeters that had broken down.

6 Advanced Identity Theft

There is a new breed of identity theft threatening which is being “nourished” by bots that linger on machines for several months harvesting passwords, bank account information, checking history, recurrently used email addresses, and other. They'll crop enough data to allow extortion attempts and advanced identify theft attempts.

7 Increasingly Malicious Spyware
A continual development of malicious code enable criminal and nation-state attackers to expand on flux techniques meant to disguise their infrastructure, making it even more difficult to trace their servers. Furthermore, recent Storm variants' enabled investigators detection followed by counterattack flooded against the investigators. Malicious tools will know a massive growth in usage targeting and dodging anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-rootkit tools. To sum up, bad news lies ahead as malware will increasingly grow to be unenviable and harder to stop.

Part 3: Web Application Exploits, Social Engineering, Supply Chain Attacks.
