Xirrus, Inc., announced availability of the first in a series of free computer desktop tools for WiFi users. The Xirrus WiFi Monitor gadget for Windows Vista provides at a glance access to useful real-time information about WiFi adapters, connections, and the surrounding environment.
Gadgets are simple, mini-applications that run on Windows Vista desktops and provide easy access to commonly used information and tools - other operating system environments provide similar utilities. The WiFi Monitor gadget offers value to both end users and IT managers deploying and operating WiFi.
The WiFi Monitor gadget is useful for a number of practical applications, including:
Display laptop WiFi settings
Search for local WiFi networks
Verify WiFi coverage (simple site survey)
Verify AP settings
Detect rogue APs
Aiming WiFi antennas
