Posted by Max on 2007/10/18 13:33:43 (1106 reads)
Windows Security

A new malware that imitates Skype is out there and collects personal information from the infected hosts. The windows Skype community has reported the wide spread of 65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe which is classified as an Infostealer, that is, a Trojan horse program that attempts to steal sensitive information such as login credentials.

Once run, this trojan mimics the skype login screen and invalidates any attempt to login in Skype network. The entered usernam/ password combinations and the IE histroy and cookies are sent to a website designed to receive all the stolen data.

To remove the malware, please update your anti-virus software. At this time, Skype has notified F-Secure, TrendMicro, Symantec, WebSense, and FaceTime Security Labs. For manual removal it is enough to delete the 65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe file.
