Microsoft has just released a new report on mobile security called Windows Mobile Powered Devices and Security Features: Helping Protect Sensitive Business Information.
Quoting from this report :
Mobile devices, which can offer the benefits of improved employee productivity, can also potentially represent security risks. These devices often store large amounts of sensitive data, which could cause harm if accessed by unauthorized users.

Mobile devices also have the potential to provide unauthorized users with access to corporate networks and to introduce viruses and other harmful software into these networks. For these reasons, it’s important for organizations to create a set of clear security policies and automate their implementation to the highest degree possible, to help ensure their consistent and vigilant application.

It’s also important to select a mobile platform that can help mitigate security risks as it pertains to your business.

Windows Mobile powered devices, designed from the ground up for enterprise use, offer a wide range of security options, helping organizations to protect both their sensitive data and their networks. The Windows Mobile platform provide companies with choice of devices, a familiar and intuitive platform, offers business applications to help employees stay productive while on the go, and helps improve security protection.

In addition, a wide range of third-party security software and peripheral products are available. Together, these built-in security features and third-party options help Windows Mobile powered devices achieve a higher level of security protection, while at the same time providing a platform on which enterprises can standardize their mobile business applications.
